Elephants apparently have something akin to funerals and visit the site of fallen elephants for years when passing through the area.

I always thought that was crazy.

The also found that when villages have problems with rogue destructive elephants, it's almost always a case of young males going through puberty with no dominant males in the area. The solution is usually just finding an adult bull into the mix. In other words, the solution for unruly teens in elephant society (which is largely matriarchal) is the introduction of a good father figure. Interesting parallel with human society.
