Drake is going to do what he wants to do; that's been his steez from the jump. I don't know why people expect him to move how they think he should. For instance, since day one, the general rap community been begging for a complete rap album. We are never getting that.

However, I agree with you, yes, he should sit down with Angie Martinez, that would be the only interview that would make the most sense out of everyone as far as paying respect to the culture imo

If I could compare it to Kanye, all these iceman era songs sound like drake’s version of like…yeezus or maybe TLOP

I don’t think Drake can afford to do something like that because he seems like he’s in a position to fight for fans/respect/listenership right now
 
I still got faith in Drake, but the biggest difference in the Ye comparison is Ye completely shifted and dominated sneaker culture during his "falloff". He had a valid excuse.

Hes been the most streamed artist every month for like 2 years running lol.

Not talking to you specifically @MrBeef cause I know you're being objective but this idea that he's fighting for fans/respect/listenership only exists in the minds of people that won't fuck with him regardless. Niggas been saying this since 2010. It's 2025. The run is the run. Niggas need to get over it. If this next album flops (it won't) so what? He already beat the game. He just playing it again for platinum trophies at this point.

How do I put it? I guess I mean maintaining casual listenership

Like the diehards like you will stay but for everyone else on the outside who had a passive interest could start to tune out

It’s not going to necessarily be damaging to his overall stardom, but it’s like Kobe after like 2012 and like the last 4 years of his career

It was nothing of note and pretty subpar but he still had respect and viewership and got accolades based on legacy

Bringing it back to Drake I know what you’re saying and you’re right but I’m just speaking/speculating from a viewpoint of the common rap fan that’s not necessarily a diehard Drake fan

I think fans decide at some point for everyone when they stop caring to check for an artist

(For example, think when people decided, you know what? I don’t care for wiz khalifa or Rick Ross’ music anymore)

I’m just saying I think it might be this point for Drake with them

I know ultimately it doesn’t matter I’m just having a thought

It was just a loose comparison really

Once Kanye took adidas to an astronomical level and shifted to fashion as well, music fans started to jump off

I know with Drake it’s a different reason but I used Kanye to pinpoint exactly when fans started to jump off because it was the easiest example

Another example is TI after he spent that year in jail

Again not saying these were not the reasons why but just the marker when the shift happens
