Bet you niggas watched that tape too. Hide your hands. Yall going to hell with rkelly.
Confession time. Yes, the tape was in my house for some odd reason (I had traumatic experiences with porn as a kid that I'm still trying to get over to this day). I was a horny teenager looking for titties, and that was the last place I wanted to look but my brother hid his porn somewhere else and this shit was just out in the open... again, FOR SOME ODD REASON. I popped in the tape, pressed fast forward and looked to the side with one eye til I saw the girl by herself. She was older than me anyway, so what fuck did I give.
This is the issue here. Whether ppl do stuff R. Kelly did, or give him a pass due to his outside endeavors... they set a precedent for kids to follow and normalizes that kind of behavior. With the shit Akademiks just got into, it puts in perspective how older figures in our lives can influence us. We were taught a wrong shit as men, especially when it comes to women and sex in general. We idolize and hold to a high standard ppl with artistic merit regardless of their principles as men. We go out our way to defend them even tho they were clearly in the wrong because their behavior was normal in our childhood. Niggas gotta catch football numbers and have their charges read out loud for us to see the error of their ways, and even from there we become legal experts overnight for them.
R. Kelly in particular was dangerous because he not only affected the young girls he abused, he influenced young boys across the world their age or younger. Most of us got a chunk of our sex education from an R. Kelly album. Nigga was making songs with B2K and Bow Wow. "My mind is telling me no, but my body is telling me yeah" is an implication of sex addiction, forced compliance and a lapse of self control. If the RRHOF inducts him, I'm not gonna riot. But if you were an R. Kelly fan at any capacity (The R was a classic), you should listen to his music moving forward with discernment and acknowledge his influence on lost young men and women.
