Mel would have been a perfect fit but probably would have been afraid of being typecast as a cop because Lethal Weapon 1 came out in 1987 while Die Hard 1 came out in 1988.

Kurt Russell would have been great too because I can see him delivering John McClane's witty lines with no problem

No that's the one with Mary Winstead as the daughter. Die Hard 5 makes that movie look like the original Die Hard by comparison.

Crazy thing about this movie and series. I've never seen the first all the way thru. Yet I've seen all the other ones even went to the movies to see them
