Did The Husband Overreact?

If you don't sleep there every night then you're a guest. If you only in my house during special occasions then you're a guest.

Special get togethers is the only time it's cool for the husband to not get the first plate when you have guests over. The wife giving her dad a plate first on normal days is disrespectful to the head of the table, her dad not her #1 anymore so the wife gotta move accordingly.

See folks have fundamentally different opinions on what a guest actually is. That muddles the waters off the break.

The bold goes for everything IMO.

shit aint that serious but did some of ya'll say the elders eat first????

idk maybe my family dont have a lot of old people on either side....all the grands are gone

but anyway i feed all the kids first at every function....make a big line and get all the babies out the way and sat down, and then its all in

fuck this story tho....him and his homeboy need a couples retreat and it can be all about them ?
?

We do it that way but if somebody is older and not healthy we let them go with the kids

off topic but family gathering violation: making your to-go plates while people just started eating their first plate lol

His wife came over?

Oh read it wrong....

Nah I’d eat last regardless.

My wife can cook for me anytime.

I’d be busy hosting anyway.
Making sure the guests are good.

Guest always go first and everyone who doesnt live with me is a guest. I dont serve anyone. Nor does my folks. In fact, most of our gatherings, the food is laid out on the table. Just form a line and get what you want. Only time something is served is if the meat has to be cut.

He's right. This is his house. You spoused his ass, not you dad. You wanted a dependable man to live in: then serve him first.

As an African, I would get if she served the children first: our customs requires it. But she served plenty of adults first and let nothing aside for her husband. She's either a neglectful cook or a disrespectful wife and the man has every right to re-assert his marital status and property ownership.

Apparently, we all don't follow the same cultural customs. I'm black, and I'm from America. My guest will be served first.

Neglectful would be ignoring him altogether. He still received a plate, as the fake story narrates. He neglected to provide proper quantities of silverware and/or plasticware for the household. If he didn't "neglect" his role as the "provider" or man of his household, maybe he wouldn't be eating his greens and cornbread with a spoon. Lmao @ you wanted a dependable man. He can't even depend on himself for adequate utentils. Where did that even come from lmao?

They're not guests, they're family guests. Husband is served first when obliged, then the remainder of the family. If there has any children, then the children must be served first.

I don't care about the ustentils. In Africa, we use as much spoons, forks and knifes than hand-feeding.

They're not guests, they're family guests. They're still guests. What's the difference?

sounds like a spreader event to me. dude should be happy using a disposable fork.

And what the fuck is the "first plate"? When I'm done cooking I say soup's on and then it's every man for himself. I probably ate already.
