Somebody within the GOP or White House must have floated that story to the NY Times.......that way Trump can use that for grounds for firing Rosenstein (who was the one that appointed Mueller) and replace him with someone who could stop / severely cripple the Mueller probe....not sure how the line of succession works but thats what I got out of it.

I just find it funny how the NY Times puts this story out after its been disclosed this past week that Cohen is cooperating with Mueller and a couple of weeks ago that Manafort is cooperating with Mueller
