Naaaaah, this is where I gotta step in lol. I'll let the pizza sentiment slide, even though it's still wrong, but not that caribbean food part.
I know that UK got mad yardies, but Caribbean (mostly Jamaican) food from NY is some of the best outside of their native countries.

It definitely depends on where you go. You have a lot of places that try to cater to an American audience, but there are also legit places making legit food.
Those places are hard to find, and when you do you don't leave that place.

Lol comlletely underatandable. I lived in NY for just over ten years and it's only within the last 3 or 4 I found places I liked.

Yeah if you read the history regarding a lot of these cultures and their food...a lot of them had to "dumb down" their original dishes when they came here.

Over here a lot of Indian immigrants dumbed down their food infact the national dish is a fake Indian meal. But now "authentic" Indian food is probably the most popular kind of restaurant here

On the subject of Golden Krust... shout out to them. I was in this janky spot and got some microwave beef patties (they're good to have around) but all they had was Grace. That shit was TRASH! I already had a bad experience with Grace jerk paste (I had to use paste in a pinch one summer) and then that happened. The live and also frozen Golden Krust patties will hold you down in a drought. But yeah a real patty from a shady spot with terrible service is usually the way to go.
Pepperoni cups on pizza is dope though if your anatomy can handle it. I'm too old for that shit though.
