If this movie is successful I think they're gonna have to do a trilogy. They're saying in just this movie
that there's gonna be The Riddler,Penguin,Catwoman,Firefly,and Court of Owls. I read something
where they said they might try to put Joaquin Phoenix's Joker in the sequel.

The CW Flash having movie flash explained it pretty much. They're acknowledging multiverse like the comics do so they can have a whole bunch of unique stories without having to worry of continuity like that.
