They just need to stop trying to prop-up these mediocre female characters to be more than what they really are.

Simple solution?

If they want to do a female superhero, do another Wonder Woman movie.

Proven commodity at the box office.
Bruh....

No...

Supergirl is a great character
The Supergirl show was damn good
The source material woman of tomorrow was a dope read

Wonder woman 85 got bad reception as well.... They don't always have to do the same heroes... Just take proper care of the production. There's a lotta things that could have went better...

But to make it seem like Supergirl is a mediocre character... Is just wrong. That's crazy
.
But I know you will double down... Cuz... You....

But naw, we not gonna run with the narrative of Supergirl being a bad character for a movie. That's foolishness

Ok, let's assume that's true.

What went wrong then?

I said earlier that the chick from the tv show would've been a better fit for the movie.

So, if Supergirl is a great character, whoever produced the movie did a horrible job of getting that across.

The obvious issue is either the writer adapting the graphic novel or the director visualizing the script. The actual graphic novel is great and the story of the film never reaches the heights and the emotional beats of it

I also dont think it's a good idea having the boss of the studio be a director, how involved is he from a producing standpoint? Who was supervising the production of the film?

Yea I don't think he wants to take the backstage

But he may change his mind since this is just starting. This would be good reflection for them

Without watching it, and only going on the reviews....

It sounds like it didn't translate well on screen. I put that in the editor and the director. Reading the book there was a sense of hopelessness at times m the void of space was massive. And the book spent a lot of time explaining how kryptonian powers worked under different suns. If they don't tell the story right, I can absolutely see how that can drag... Because most of it is them chasing a dude all over the universe. And if they spent more time on the chase vs the personal discovery. They missed what made it great.

The dude killed her father, she wanted to find a strong person to avenge him. If that motive doesn't resonate, it's just not gonna work. I liked it because I liked how Supergirl was kinda reluctant to help, but at the same time felt it was like a duty. She was way more rugged than TV Kara.

At the end, there are several lessons.

It turned out Kara deliberately made the journey harder than it needed to be to teach the girl about revenge and how it's not worth it in the end. Cuz of how you can lose yourself and how dangerous it can be.

The dog was never in danger. Even on a red sun, the dog was good. I have no idea if the movie plays on that.... But in the book it really showed you how much Kara did this for the girl and not really the dog which just added levels to the story

Basically Kara is really traumatized and didn't want the girl to become the same way, so she showed her the hard way how that shit change consume you. Seeing Kara so close to death so many times... It made her question the journey.... But it was done in a subtle artistic way that was just perfect. Plus the art was on stupid. If this movie didn't look amazing... They weren't even trying

And slowly Ruthye realizes how strong Kara is because she's willing to help the inhabitants of every planet they visit that has been victimized by Krem and the Brigands. How kind she is despite everything that happened to her

Yeah, Imma still watch. And I'm not normally a stickler for adaptations not following the source material page to page..... But don't lazy it down... Understand the source and add your own spin.... But changing the entire narrative to something simpler when the blueprint is right there is crazy work

Also, instead of watching a 45 minute video of some other dudes opinion, spend the time reading the book and taking in the visuals. I'm sure after reading woman of tomorrow, you'll have a strong opinion of your own why this being a bad movie is a disappointment....

I literally put the book down with the exact feeling I have after watching a good ass movie for the first time in the theaters...

I was like, yeah, this about to be a slam dunk for DC.... No way they miss this one...

So I'm kinda shocked at the response... But yeah read for yourself. You can find it free online I'm sure

Can't take seriously a video with the words "Girl Boss" in the title. Someone who didn't even watch the film or know anything about Supergirl

They just lucky DC animation didn't grab this first...

Cuz they would have knocked it out the park..
