I rode my bike 8 miles to the mall to buy it at sam goody. I was aware of common but not a frequent listener. Loved kanye at the time and was stoked he started his own label and I had just discovered J dilla and fell in love with his music.
I didnt care much for "the corner" at the time. I like it way more as an adult but young me didn't think it was all too amazing, but I ended up buying the album off the strength of Kanye and J dilla being the producers.
I remember putting it in my Walkman and riding back home and that intro hit hard as a mf. Just the way the beat built up then the drums come kicking in. I had to of replayed that intro 50 times on the way home alone. Then the rest of the album was common at one of his best moments. Kanye in his prime. Then a good couple tracks from dilla. I played this album for months. Made me a fan of common and made me go back to get every album he had prior to it.
11 bonus tracks is crazy though. Does it say if they were made back in the "be" era? Or are they completely new?
