Suing a label is bad for hip hop?

Not the rampant misogyny and glorification of deplorable behavior but the suing of a record label that steals people music for 20–30 years before they can even try and get it back

That’s what “ruined” hip hop?

It’s a poster on here that i don’t rock with at all that let us know the game is alive and well. we just choose to not give them younger dudes a chance
C'mon Dwayne fam

Why you doing this. You should know what they mean when they say that

The art of the rap battle is what's in jeopardy cause if you can sue over words in a rap battle, one of the pillars of the art is bad for that culture

Yes, misogyny, drug culture, etc are also detrimental. Two things can exist at the same time

Doesn't have to be which one is worse

What I’m talking about is bigger than MC Last Week. If you want Fu Schnickens it’s out there for you to consume my brother and you can have it your way like BK. What this does is force it to be one way.

It’s a matter of artistic integrity vs a new brand of censorship. Everything you’re talking about is micro. I’m talking macro because the implications balloon far beyond just Hip Hop music. But hip hop culture is what I love, and is also what this thread is about.. thus my statement.

Yes it is. And if successful would actually put in jeopardy the things you claim rappers seldom talk about which is the non detrimental stuff as well.

That's not what he said
The next couple of sentences Pusha goes on to say......

" That's why me and him don't click, because he knows what I really, really think of him. He's showed me the weakest sides of him, and he knows how I think of weak people. "

Yes it is. And if successful would actually put in jeopardy the things you claim rappers seldom talk about which is the non detrimental stuff as

big labels and labels owners like Birdman, JPrince

And artist like JayZ all done things like this to artists.

From not letting drop an album or collab with a certain artist

Drake suing UMG because he feels they were contributing to pushing his worth down so the next contract is not as much is a good thing IMO

And when it comes to this track with Pusha and Kendrick I hate they fo plain because they took the money from these labels and work for the labels not the other way around.

Drake crying about UMG he shouldn’t have got in bed with them because they are shady to artists

Drake should've made better diss records then

Wayne couldn’t drop Carter 5 for damn near 10 years.

Cole kept getting pushed back

Lupe was “forced” to drop an album he don’t like (I like it though)

Let me get back to the Pusha and Kanye.

Didn’t know it was any friction and that post is eye opening in a couple different directions

How didn't know this? Serious question
because Kanye is exhausting lol.

And Pusha always talk about how much of a “standup” guy he is working with and collecting checks from a person you don’t even consider a “man” is weird behavior.

Drake is suing UMG because he's accusing them of doing the same shit to him that they've done to other artist in his favor. Def Jam responding with demanding a song now be removed from an album that has nothing to do with him infringes on any artist artistic freedom. This spans to every genre. If every label takes the stand of "we could get sued because of optics" then there will never be music made again because there ain't one genre people can't complain about the optics of

Well I'ma shoot push some bail cause I think for as long as he could, he tried to present a unified front in the midst of ye being an ass.

At some point, pusha stopped doing this and I think he tried to still show loyalty but at some point I'm sure it started to impact the way he moves which is why it looks like he might be fake while collecting checks

It wasn't public because by his own admission Push was being fake as hell. As Ye continued crashing out there was some criticism from people towards Push for not being as vocal about it as he has been other things he deemed worthy of talking about. I mean in the grand scheme of things him feeling more compelled to diss Drake for 10 years over ghostwriting and contracts vs staying silent while Ye became a self hating Black man says more about him than he probably realizes

I think Push realized that his image of being authentic wouldnt hold up as long as he kept quiet. But I think Pusha and Kendrick have their own fans to blame partially for Def Jam reaction

I get what you’re saying

But naw. Ain’t no unified front when it comes to KW. His actions is the type you cut bait from IMMEDIATELY.

It seemed more money oriented than loyalty.

I know we got a thread about Game ruining his self more than any artist

But Kanye wins that hands down

With them, it's harder to just cut ties when you have legit legal partnerships involved. Gotta be sure you not breaking any terms so you won't get sued.
