Agreed

But when your position is consistently that no other regions are capable of making good music, then you are biased

To knocks point, outside of the singles Snoop had while on deathrow, the first time I listened to an entire album of his was his first one on NL.
That's not true though. The only gripe is that certain rappers weren't lyrical like that. But this idea that if it isn't up north then it's wack is a reach.

Then we have to have the discussion of what lyrical means because juvenile is a lyricist. That's not debatable.

He doesn't have to have rappity rap lyrics or double/triple entendres to still paint a picture with words

Maybe on the IC

Not here tho

Most of the threads that are east coast albums...

Either a southern poster comments, gives album its props or respect and keeps it moving

Or

We not in there...

But again...a southern album pops up and

East Coast niggas running in there being wild disrepectful lol
This x10

Thing is tho...east coast heads be quick to shit on the south...

Its one thing to say...naw i dont really fuck with east/southern/west/midwest music...vice saying

Oh its from the south? TRASH

Which is what a lot of NY/East Coast heads ive encountered do...

Perfect example...

That 50 Cent thread...”Guess Whos Back” if a southern nigga dont fuck with it or think its a classic...

“Good songs...but naw its not a classic...” or we just dknt go in the thread

But in that UGK thread “Riding Dirty” thread

You niggas were so quick to run in there and call it trash...straight up disrespectful...when half of the niggas voting never even listened to it...

They quick to shit on music from the south because they think that east coast albums, "Everybody listened to that shit" when that shit is completely false

It became cool to listen to East Coast albums throughout the south was around late 99 heading into the 2000s

That's was when niggas was like "oh ok" Let me cop "The Dynasty" by Jay, Let me get that "DMX"

Other than that, before that, nobody wasn't fuckin wit that shit.

Man I dropped a song the other day "Money on the Couch" and Juvie first 32 bars, he tearing a hole in the beat, and my boy say Snoop's Murder was the Case bars were ahead of its time?

Like wha? Lol

Trill sh** here. That was the main thing that I was saying earlier. You can disagree with an album being a classic then keep it moving but when a person start degrading & name calling then it starts to become a problem

Yooo Lmaoo

Man look big dog, I recall that nigga @AP21 telling me about Wu Tang, 36 chambers album and to listen to, at the time, I couldn't even name you 2 niggas outta the WU, I think that nigga actually bought that album and was playing the shit or something, breh, breh Lmaooo. I think I told that nigga not to ever speak to me again. Lol and then the nigga was like man, Knock check out the video, (the one wit the bumble bees or something) breh Lol. I let that nigga have it.

Man if you don't cut that bullshit off and put on that Chopper City on Lol.

This is where the disconnect comes from. Lyrical don't =rappity rap (Starbucks made me hate the term) nor is anybody saying that because a rapper isn't lyrical then he isn't dope. Juvenile isn't lyrical but he's not wack either.

But really tho its like maybe one person up here who dont fuck with Southern music and i think thats Chi Town B. I mean i remember years ago like mid 2000s people hated on the south but nobody hates on the South anymore. South the only region now where the rappers have a distinct sound

It wasn't 36, it was the double disc with triumph and it's yours

Then we have different definitions of what lyrical means

That's a fair statement.

But I would just state this and this goes back to what I originally stated about East Coast music not being played down here.

We didn't grow up on southern artist using 100 different metaphors in a rap or creating crazy world play in bars. We grew up southern rappers spitting reality rap to where it was clear and it resonated to the environment you were live in meaning: Who could paint the best picture or come close to home, and make it fit on beat.

When Juvie says:

"Aint nobody go run me, I don't want nobody to run and tell my mama what somebody done me, she aint bring me in the world for that, she aint raise no hoe, she could of had a girl for that"

Like back then, and still now, that shit is tight and it's real and it's like Life Lol. Simple, but yet sticks and make sense. I still say that shit, Lol

But to yall defense, some east coast dudes grew up on 100 metaphors and a lot of witty word-play.

Prime example, Wayne, I posted a song the other day, him at 13 spitting on that Juvie song, he was spitting at that age, no cursing, or anything and an East Coast dude may be like that's weak, cuz they may not hear the 100 metaphors, but Wayne adding in the 100 metaphors and word-play and switching his rapping style on Carter 1, other albums, mix-tapes, etc, now niggas not only in the South, but niggas in East Coast at one time was saying dude was the greatest, cuz he added that element that yall are accustom to hearing.

If Wayne stuck with the flow he had when he came out, niggas wouldn't respect Wayne on the east coast but niggas down south would have him Top 5 or so still (in my opinion)

That's one of my favorite Juve lines. He said that about 20 years ago & often times, I still be saying that line in conversation. That 400 Degrees had too many quotes

thread already derailed, but to knock's point

Juvie said on flossing season:

Got karats on both of my pinkies, ten thousand a piece
Today I might lay low in Kenner, but my house in the East
Fuck that, I'mma play bourban it's a thousand a suite

i dont even post this as some "OMG MAN HE GOT BARS!!!!"...its simple af, like super simple, but it resonates

today i might lay low in Kenner - Kenner, La...the first city you drive through once you come off the spillway on your way to NOLA. Kenner is a nice suburban area where the Louis Armstrong Airport is located

but my house in the east - NOLA East...more specifically, the subdivision Eastover where a lot of affluent black people live in mansions and shit. They shot Wayne's "way of life video" in Eastover and thats where the Birdman episode of "cribs" was filmed as well"

Fuck that, I'ma play bourbon, its a thousand a suite - Bourbon Street where people get rooms and shit for Mardi Gras, Bayou Classic, etc...but this is the spot where you wanna be when its something going down in the city

When you see the shit in person, you like "damn, i get it"

idk mayne...i dont expect niggas to read what i just wrote and come to some conclusion that Juvie is the down south Jigga or nothing like that, but its simple shit that if you not up on the culture, it will go over your head.

This my last reply Lol

Even Wayne thought Juvie was a beast

Lyrics like:

"Lets say I'm in a room wit a bitch, and the hoe don't won't fuck, like a man, I'ma beat my meat, and get my fucking nut, fo sho, she go be drove then, and I'ma cut the TV and go to sleep on that hoe then, now tell that to your girlfriend, you tell her everything else"

And the "You can fuck my bitch, Let me fuck yo bitch, I don't love bitch, I'on trust that bitch"

Like, that shit is what niggas heard every day out and about, from yo brother, uncle, any nigga dealing with bitches like that. Every day talk. I know I did Lol shit

Simple ass lyrics but every day around the way talk/language, and we think that shit is tight. Like painting that picture that hit close to home, sticks wit us southern listeners. Man that nigga Juvie coming wit that shit. Like that's how we felt and feel when niggas say Juvie don't be spitting.

Man niggas still say tha shit Lol and it's 20 years later as the trill dog T.Stanford says

Go really listen to them Back that ass up lyrics, and ask yoself if Juvie aint painting a picture that niggas go through or deal with everyday, Go listen to them lyrics and dissect that shit, especially that 2nd verse
