OK so since these guys aren't giving you a real answer I'm gonna break it down for you @5 Grand . Grunge music is basically when you have a trombone player and a lead female vocalist and you recreate old Jazz standards but just with the tuba and the lady scatting like Ella Fitzgerald. But also a big part of it is the background dancers and the light show. That's what seperates it from regular rock n roll.

It's kind of crazy when you think about it . HIP HOP has peaked 25 years ago with the quality of music ,but today it is still dominating in popularity compared to other genres of music .

There is a very distinct difference from the 80s Hair Metal bands (Motley Crew, Guns and Roses, Poison) and 90s Grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam)

you are basically saying the equivalent of 80s and 90s hip hop sounds the“same” when we know that not to be true

Yeah there was some good Hip Hop that came out between 1994-1997


The weird thing is that the new rappers were born after 1997 and don't even remember Big and Pac. They don't even remember the Nas vs Jay beef.

Hair metal has crisper riffs and notes, higher tones and more uptempo outside of the ballads.

Grunge notes and riffs are more distorted lower tones and the tempo is slower
