What a bounceback for Yorgos (I like Poor Things). I love the commentary about how self-destructive we are as a species. I can't remember the last time Jesse Plemons played a normal character lol. He's fueled by conspiracy theories, lies, pain and anger. The pain probably comes from being molested as a child by another character that appears in the film. I also thought Emma Stone was brilliant. I like black comedies. I like how they poke fun at how fake CEOs and corporations are about looking out for their employees and about diversity
 
PRAISE: It's the ultra sobering facts and realities of the times we are living in that run through to almost the ending of this movie that kept me engaged. The story is about Two conspiracy-obsessed men kidnap the CEO of a major company when they become convinced that she's an alien who wants to destroy Earth. The actors turn in amazing performances. Emma Stone as Michelle Fuller she's that corporate boss who tells you to enjoy casual Friday but then says....but don't wear sneakers.....maybe you should still wear a tie....ahh just wear a suit. Stone is Director Yorgos Lanthimos muse and she's up for anything he's involved in and its on full display in this movie. An immersion into a role and then some. Jesse Plemons as Teddy is the type of person that dwelled on to many Tik Tok and YouTube conspiracy videos so much so it has warped his reality but it's also tied to personal pain and who he thinks is the author of his pain. Aidan Delbis as Don is the character i felt the most compassion for because he's being manipulated in a lot of different ways and out of loyalty he's going along for the ride even though he can tell something is very off. I loved the way Lanthimos shot a scene which was filled with lies and reality. There's this nice touch of characters altering the paths of how things are going to play out. I did like the little sing along music that accompanied scenes that included dread. There are moments of brutal, dark humor that I liked.

PROBLEMS: A character should have used more logic and reason and seen something coming. There's the basic tropes of getting to know your kidnappers and trying to manipulate them. I'm still lukewarm on the ending. Sure the visuals were cool reminding me of a 1970s movie but was it really necessary because I was fine with how all the manipulation and lies had played out.

This movie was a trip. Enjoyed it from start to finish. What a wild mind fuck.
