A bride served her mother-in-law (MIL) fast food at her wedding and now the family is torn apart.

She posted about the dinner on Reddit’s “Am I the A******” forum. The bride served lemon chicken and lemon cake at her wedding. The trouble was that her mother-in-law is repulsed by lemon. She wanted to provide a low-cost alternative so she bought her mom a cheesesteak from Jersey Mike’s, a fast-food joint. But after the wedding, her father-in-law (FIL) was furious.

“We got married recently and I wanted to serve my favorite foods at the wedding, lemon chicken and lemon cake. But I didn’t want my MIL to starve and she HATES lemon, can’t even put it in her mouth without gagging. I was trying to think of something she would eat that was cheap and easy. I know the buffalo chicken cheesesteak at Jersey Mike’s is her fave fast food meal and I had a box of M&M’s for her. She did give me a weird look, but she ate it,” the bride wrote.

Then her father-in-law called her out on the meal.

“FIL was furious. He said that I am selfish and disrespected him and his wife. He went on a rant about how tacky it was to have a wedding and not take the family into consideration and that I wasted his money. MIL did tell him to stop yelling, but he called me a b**** on my wedding day. Now FIL is demanding an apology,” the Reddit poster said.

Reddit users shared what they thought about the situation and they were not on the bride’s side.

“It was extremely rude and tacky to serve a nice meal and dessert for every guest except one,” someone said.

“Singling MIL out with a sandwich? Omg,” another wrote.

“A conversation about food being served and food she would like to eat, would have gone a ways towards avoiding this awkward and tacky situation,” a user commented.

this is why the father/parents pay for it trend is wack lol

spending your own money ALWAYS makes shit less stressful and you can do wtf you want....nobody got nothing to say

and thats with everything outside of weddings too

SN: i like both but lemon chicken and lemon cake is stupid....a whole sour, acidic meal lol.....i have no choice but to assume this is a trend for her and now I hope she drinks a lotta water or they bedroom is pure lemon pepper wet

white nonsense

On this, we agree.

but why she ain’t order a non lemon dish before that so you don’t gotta get fast food. That’s wack af

So the mom in law don't like what they served so she got her something that she does, what's the issue? They just don't like the new wife and brought up a bullshit reason to go at her

Nah bruh, that shit was tacky and this is coming from someone who thinks all these ceremonies are overblown. How you going to serve your MIL fast food when you're serving everyone else a gourmet meal especially when you knew from jump that your MIL couldn't eat the selected meal and that your MIL was paying for it. That's why weddings typically have more than one option., to accommodate people with certain allergies or proclivities. She could have at least gotten something that looked the part of the ceremony.

Other than a “weird look” MIL didn’t seem to want to make it a big deal. Looks like the FIL should have made this post from his POV, because tbh he seems like the a-hole.
