I think knowledge of past religions and the ones our ancestors worshipped is needed for more reasons than I can name. And you be in Latin America so I know you and @Goldie probably seen Santeria in those areas which is a combination of vodoo mixed with Catholic. In the US the Cogic churches and people catching the Holy Ghost is from that same Voodoo. As someone stated Ethiopian Christianity was formed in its own bubble. I think Islam in Africa has alot of syncretism as well with traditional religions.

I feel every individual takes religion differently if they are allowed too. Nat Turner was fully a Christian but he wasnt docile or meek. I really dont think us being Christians kept us from rebelling though. White violence did all that.

Veneration for our kin folk is a good thing and i think by treating anything outside of Christianity and Islam as automatically the Devil is a throwback to ancient times. Like one god is worshipped in one city another god is worshipped in a different city. So say a ruler of one wants to take over the other they can make it religion based and get the war started.

Blind followers are dangerous but the folks who influence the ignorance and violence is the real issue.

And it can go for any religion or way of life. Especially the hypocrisy part. Because Christians be like its only one God and thats it snd he jealous. But we not supposed to be jealous and who is God jealous of ?

For all we know(believers) God couldve been just a creator with no other power but creation and everything could be up to us.

Me and my cousin get into this once a month lol we just end up going in circles and then branch off from the main topic and end up never getting to a real point. But if any man that wasn't worshiping Christian god is going to hell right ? That's a lot of people going/ in hell.

Y'all should check out some interviews with professor James Smalls.

Spiritual warfare is one the oldest conflicts in the world. And black Americans are one the greatest examples of what loosing that war looks like. Practicing a religion that was forced upon you is the most profound consequence of a people being conquered. When you make a people change their idea of God, by brutal force, and it trickles down to every generation afterwards, that's total domination. Complete victory of the oppressive force, hands down.

What Christianity has labeled as devil was done out of preserving itself. Their idea of "devil", "black magic", "darkness" is anything that is a threat to their power, not the human condition. Haitians are said to have called upon the aggressive spirits of Vodoun for spiritual strength during their rebellion. As a Bokor once said, "one shouldn't call upon a peaceful spirit for vengeance and expect harm to befall your enemies". I don't believe it's a coincidence our oppressors would push the peaceful white idea of Jesus on our people, it's too convenient. They terrorize our people then go to Church on sunday like nothing happened. Those are the people black Christians share their God with, like these racist are "bad" Christians by mistake. Whatever...

I've been looking for evidence of this.

Like the text of some ancient African civilization that specifically refers to Christianity.

Only thing I've come across is how selective things were taken from here and there to be used in the Europeans romanticized version. And if such a thing does exist, it would surely differ in translation. So the next question is why the black community still refers to the Europeans version in most cases.
