It absolutely is, but there’s a bigger reason for doing it privately. If they do get enough pressure to call Trump in, they will do it privately and claim it’s just protocol to do it privately. That way Trump can go in there and lie and republicans can spin it however they want it. Then it will be democrats word against theirs. If it was public, then the public can form their own unbiased opinion.
