Can’t at all take away from the year 50 had, but I’ll say this. ABW has a running thread that chronicled Kendrick’s whole 2024 that started April 15 2024 and its last post was April 16, 2026.

Some of ya’ll niggas got some short ass memories.

Come on, 50 literally changed the entire world... The whole landscape of music and the way new artists got marketed...

This is pre social media and before 'fast food moments' when news feeds lasted 6-12months... 50 had mainstream TV, radio, newspaper and magazines across the entire world in a chokehold from 2003 until whenever...

I remember reading a regular mainstream newspaper over here before GROTD dropped and it had a double page profile spread about 50s life and the incoming album, I dont think Eminem even got that treatment...

80year old women in Iceland or North Korea knew who 'Fiddy Cent' was...

Thats not to say Kendrick didnt have a monster year, 'Not Like Us' and the Pop Out concert was unusually mainstream for longer than usual but it didnt make regular international news, it was a huge viral moment that last longer than normal...

A running thread? The ic had gunit subforum
Facto..

Fuck a thread. A literal sub forum that was popping for more then a year. Was popping for multiple years.

And In the midst of his commercial success drop banger after banger mixtape. Shit the way people do mixtapes now is because of 50. Taking niggas beats/songs and people forgot who actually created the original. Creating original songs making mixtapes like an actual album.

Fleeced the system to not have to pay for samples.

50 by miles and miles.

50, and I used to hate 50 around this time. It was just too much and I typically dislike whatever train EVERYBODY hops on.

It’s all subjective, all I’m saying is it’s a lot closer than a lot of y'all wanna admit.
Yo it’s ok if you was like 6 or wasn’t born when 50 cent came out, but it really wasn’t even close.

50 cent his headband and bulletproof vest was famous by it self, if you wore that for Halloween with some jean shorts and white uptowns everybody knew you was 50 cent.

No social media for 50 and Kendrick playing the Super Bowl makes this a lot closer debate than it should be, but it’s 50 by a country mile.

we were at one point highly anticipating Tony Yayo s music
No the hell “we” weren’t!
