Best Years of HS Question 3

Are ya'll basically equating all black produced movies with hood movies because I don't really think you can call Spike Lee movies hood movies.

A couple people put up Spike Lee joints and someone has even put up Training Day, so I think it's fair to address to everyone in the topic.
Training Day is a hood movie.

And I didnt consider 5 Grand simply because he isnt apart of the tournament

What's the definition of "hood movie" here then?

From what I've seen, that term is almost always used to describe a lower budget, indie type film, made by people from the hood and meant largely to appeal to other people from or in the hood. Movies like the No Limit joints from back in the day or Snow on the Bluff or Paid In Full are hood movies. I've never heard someone refer to Oscar winning big studio productions as hood movies.

Simply put, a movie that depicts urban America and is meant to appeal to a core black audience

Not excluding the low budget joints either
