Battle Rappers Comparison Thread

Fans compare battle rap to sports and other forms of media. What are some of your battle rap comps?

Tay Roc=Lil Wayne- Wayne started off as the 3rd best member of the Hot Boys and after grinding for a few years he became the hottest rapper in the game. Tay Roc got bodied by Clips and could’ve easily been a footnote in battle rap history but he kept grinding and got to top tier status. Both are average lyricists who sometimes gets their bars gassed.

Shotgun Suge=Mark Henry- Henry came into the WWE with the “look” and the “tools” but was just inexperienced and was often injured. Suge had the “tools” but would give bad performances and choke. Mark Henry later on with a little more seasoning put it together and had himself a great run until his retirement. Suge finally put it together after a few shaky years to becoming a well rounded performer.

Dizaster=Eminem- both are lyrical, both are backed by coons, both are racists. Both get put on a pedestal undeservedly.

Mook = BDK, one of the pioneers and legends of the shit, but hasn't put in enough work to be top 5

Coincidentally Clips is more like Shaq than Suge. Shaq came into the game as the next great thing and potential franchise player and face of the league. In his early years he was dominating the sport, but after winning his first ring, he started to slack off, got lazy and was often hurt and mostly got by on natural physical talents. Clips came into battle rap as that next big thing, after body bagging Tay Roc, there was a buzz about him and who would he face. Then he came in and started on a killing spree. He was arguably the most feared and arguably the face of battle rap at the time. Then he got lazy and got by on freestyling without putting in a lot of effort.

If Shaq worked harder he might’ve been in the conversation for greatest ever, and that’s scary when you consider how good he was despite him slacking. For Clips he could be the greatest if he managed his career better and was more strategic with what battles he takes. Clips won plenty of battles half assing and slacking and that’s scary. He probably won’t go down as the goat.
