'cause a lot of us have family elders from the south that we grew up with.

Plus, hip hop from other regions was definitely an influence on the way a lot of folks up thisaway speak. For example, pre-Nelly nobody in Tha D was talmbout some "thurr", "urrbody" or no shit like that. Post-Nelly and you hear the shit all the time up here.
