I was looking at the different articles in the OP trying i figure out what started the stampede. Apparently there was impetus. They were just wilding with no regard for the consequences. That's crazy.

In crowds like that it’s usually some area of the crowd that feels like they’re getting shoved, so they shove back in the direction it came from and it spirals from there. If you slip and fall you are probably dead.
