Any tea drinkers?

Stopped off at the Asian market to cop black and green loose teas to use with my infuser. I'mma hafta cop loose Earl Gray from Amazon tho.

I also learned that the typical black teas sold in the west are called red tea in China and their black tea is something different. I'mma try it in the morning and hopefully it's not too different 'cause if it is then I'll have to cop some loose leaf Lipton yellow, Twinings, or PG Tips loose black tea as well.

Is the container the tea goes into not entirely plastic? 😭

Tea reddit recommends something like this -

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I absolutely didn't think about that part. The pot itself is glass, but the infuser section is plastic.

... oh well... I'm figuring its better than having plastic coated paper bags tho.

There are others that use a stainless steel infuser. I saw a few at the Asian market earlier. Something like this:

Tried the green tea today, this is gonna take some getting used to. Either I used too much, or I let it steep waaaaay too long (highly likely), or both 'cause this shit had that straight up earthy, nutty, dirt taste really strong. Like, you take the taste of the average green tea bag and multiply it by 25. Shit got me kinda concerned about this black tea.

Found some loose Earl Gray and ordered it. Shit just showed up today, I'mma have it with breakfast tomorrow morning.

I gotta get adjusted to using loose tea. That Earl Gray is nice, but I've been brewing it too strong even though I keep cutting back on how much I use. I've kinda got the green tea to where I want it tho. The black tea is cool, not too much different from the typical Lipton/Tetley/Twinings black teas, but that shit really does brew up black as opposed to a reddish brown like the others.

Now I need a loose gynmenma and peppermint to round it all out.

I might have damn near the same teapot

Loose tea is admittedly pretty annoying lol

I tried once or twice then went back to teabags

:pause:

I ended up trying some loose licorice root.. not bad. The store bought tea has a slightly less bitter taste but the loose tea is pretty good

i been fuckin with the loose leaf tea joints for a bit now. Licorice root is still my go to/base but I been combining joints with it trying to make my own blends

ended up coppin this joint that doesnt have any plastic in it and I can do a regular steep for herbs and a full boil for roots n shit.

One of my coworkers is originally from China. He just took his family back to the old country, and while there his visited with his wife's family that comes from a region where they prize the pu erh tea they produce. He started the week after I did and we're on the same team so we get to choppin' it up and he asked what was it I drink in my metal water bottles. Told him I brew two different loose teas, chill them overnight, and bring them to work: longjing green tea and pu erh and we got on this whole tangent about teas.

He got back Tuesday after being there for 3 weeks and brought back all kinda shit for the folks in the office and he dropped this off with me.

Xinyihao aged (2019) pu erh tea cake. Apparently I'm supposed to break off a bit, run hot water over it for 5-10 seconds to wash it and make the tea "come alive", then let it steep and it should get 3-5 uses out of whatever bit I broke off.

I think I'mma try it over the weekend.
