This album is a personal favorite of mine. It takes me back to my senior year in college. I use to blast this album like crazy.

Remember it was a rush album too.

Now, everything rides on this Jay-Z album. Jay goes on a world tour and goes to Africa to do his Water for Life thing. He’s doing all this stuff and L.A. Reid is looking at me, like, ‘We need the Jay album by the end of the year,'” he says. “I’m like, ‘We’re not ready. I have some songs but it’s not done and he’s in Africa.’ They’re like ‘If this shit doesn’t come out, people are getting fired. I can’t pay my bills, this record has to come out at this time.’”

Guru insists that he tried to push back the album because Jay was overseas, but was instead sent to Taiwan to spur the recording of the album. Jay was tired from performing to massive arenas, which Guru says may be the culprit for the LP’s quality.

Gotta give him a lil leeway on this one

Classic album and probably one of his most underrated albums along with Vol 1

I think this album underrated As fuck! Soon as I heard that Blue Magic joint, I knew this wasn't gon be no Kingdom Come. I remember none of my peoples had heard Blue Magic. I found it surfing Limewire or one of those sites, which is how I got most of my music back then

This album might've been the last time I liked hearing a rapper rewind his own rap, mid verse just to compliment himself on the rap he just rapped

Survive the drought, I wish you well
Hold up... survive the drought? I wish you well?
How sick am I? I wish you health
I wish you wheels, I wish you wealth
I wish you insight so you can see for yourself

In my top 5 Jay albums. Underrated because of the part of his career when it dropped
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. Blueprint
3. Black Album
4. Hard Knock Life vol 2
5. American Gangster
