*Repost of my thread from the IC*

I got put on to Battle Angel Alita in 06 by a friend who had the Battle Angel Alita anime on VHS tape. So when I found out it was manga I started reading it in the same year. It's still ongoing to this day.

James Cameron talked about making this movie for years, and now it drops on 7/20/18. Directed by Robert Rodriguez

Here is the anime: (Only two episodes ever were made.)

As for the manga, there are three parts to it. The third part Gunnm: Mars Chronicle is supposed to be the conclusion to the decades story, which is still ongoing. But you know I got ya'll with the links:

Battle Angel is one of my favorite flicks. I picked it up back in '95 or '96 on VHS. Just before typing this response I went looking for my copy to post up a pic of it but it's not with the rest of my VHS tapes (and now I'm pissed).

It looks like it's gonna be a fairly faithful adaptation of the anime which may not appeal to western audiences.

Saw the trailer today.

This gonna be major

Hope this goes hard. Been waiting 20 years. Just wish JC himself had actually directed it but Rodriguez comes through when he wants so I'll keep an open mind.

I just read an article the other day saying the studios are expecting this to bomb. It looks cool but i know nothing about it. Might check it out but i dunno.

I was just about to post this.

Didn't know the studios were saying this though.

I was just going off the trailer.

I want this to do well sooooooooooooo badly 'cause it'll open up the doors to shit like Appleseed or a proper Akira adaptation

Went to see it tonight. Action was dope. But not much to the story. I think trying to hard make it open to an inevitable sequel made ending feel to much like a cliffhanger but I knew going in the story wasn't going to be anything mundane blowing. Got what I paid for.

Just got back from seeing it.When that Asian girl told the black kid to get over the urm being the enemy 300 years ago and he smirked, I felt like that was a jab at black people to get over racism from white people. I mean that thought instantly hit my brain. And the whole human loving an android was some tranny propaganda to me. "Do you love me even though I'm not fully human?" Replace human with woman and boom.
