Albums that people hate on that you personally like

You’re telling me I’m lying when I know people who are into music and they all shared different views of the album.

So you went from nobody gave a fuck about those albums....to yeah I know people who were on either side of fence. And yet you're still clinging to this everybody hated it except the hiphop historians.

How many niggas you knew were driving around bumping TPAB in their cars? I haven’t seen many. Maybe we’re from different places.

I know exactly where you're from tho

SMWYG only cause of the beat…everything else is a low for me

Is this actually true, though? Serious question. I ask because a lot of people don't seem to have any in-between. It's either a high or a low. Sometimes, a joint is just 'ok' or 'cool' or 'good'.

With that said, here are the joints that I didn't fuck with AT ALL:
oh my god
hollywood

To me, everything else was somewhere between 'Eh, that one is cool.' and 'That's a banger'.

somehow this came to mind first

When this album FIRST dropped everyone hated it and said it was too weird. Then when all of that racism and political shit started happening big time in 2016 when Trump ran for office everyone started to jump on the bandwagon and wanted to be politically conscious while mixing it with trap music and shit.

I understand the sentiment. For this very reason, I revisited this shit recently. Maybe 2 weeks ago. Still hate it. LOL.

It was a low for me. I found some of those songs nauseating besides the ones I mentioned. I’m glad he made American Gangster afterwards because I really thought it was over for him at that point

Why are you looking so deeply into this? You sound like a female constantly looking into shit for nothing

Yes in my OP I said everyone hated it, because that’s what I mostly remember. I then clarified my comment by saying I’m speaking from the perspective of the everyday dude….NOT music nerds or political theorists. Those were the only people I knew that praised the album when it was first released….Grammy’s and MTV awards don’t count. That shit is pop culture and Kendrick was ALREADY FAMOUS so of course the album was highly anticipated…..and guess what?????

A lot of people were initially disappointed

Go ahead and try to get the last word….like a female I know you won’t be able to sleep without it..

How come you never liked it? Just asking

I didn’t like anything about the album honestly. The production was sketchy to me. The concepts werent for me. Etc. I’m a rappityrap nigga. And the shit kinda veered off of that way too much for me.

Kendrick is more of a rapper who’s skill I recognize and I respect more than I actually listen to his music. GKMC is by far my favorite shit from him. Both Damn and TPAB are both joints that make me say ‘I respect the artistry and I recognize that they aren’t wack...but they’re just not for me.’.

also, I’ll admit that 65% of the shit I listen to on a daily basis was released before maybe 2005.If that tells you anything. Lol.

I understand. Most albums I listen to at this point are from 2004 and below as well

I personally think DAMN is Kendricks best album because he combines elements of both GKMC as well as TPAB

He had the bangers of GKMC but with the maturity of TPAB
