It was originally supposed to be a battle royale, but given the circumstances they had to turn it into a ladder match. Plus the creator of it is in AEW anyways so *shrugs*. And there have been iterations of that same match or concept. Impact with Feast or Fired, Lucha Underground with the gift of the Gods championship, etc...

Now this is interesting

Last night on AEW Dark, Excalibur explained the rules of this Saturday's "Casino Ladder Match" at Double or Nothing. There will be a poker chip hanging above the ring symbolizing a future AEW championship opportunity, two competitors will begin the match with a new participant coming in every 90 seconds until all have entered. The winner will be the first to retrieve the poker chip. It was teased the match could end before all participants have entered.

Shout out to Jim Ross saying RIP Shad on AEW television broadcast. Sad to say that if something tragic happened to an AEW star, I doubt Vince would tell Cole to say something on TV
