Panama City, beautiful country,
Panama Canal, learned a lot, Enjoyed every bit of the tour and information about this wonder.
Never knew the history of this, it was designed as a short cut, they didn't want to send ships around South America, ships would get into wrecks, the voyage was long, so they decided to make a short cut through panama.
The French failed at it. The U.S. had to complete the project. 1989, I think, Jimmy Carter gave the canal back to Panama.
Very deep history.
Black folks built the Panama Canal by the way.
Had a chance to visit old town Casco Viejo, great history, setup just like downtown New Orleans. Needed to touch the people, paid my uber driver to take me to the areas where the people lived and moved, It was a Real ass hard neighborhood before you get to the cleaned up area in Casco Viejo. Went to the "west" side. A lot of the folks live there.
Had a chance to get one of the locals to take me into the lake that the Panama Canal spills into, passed by one of the large vessels "MSC" that was waiting to enter into the Panama Canal. Passed a few more vessels. Went to Monkey Island.
Had a chance to experience their carnival last weekend, had a good ass time. Very different from New Orleans Mardi Gras, nothing tops that, but still, we don't do the whole water hose thing, and amusement park rides. Had a blast.
I Appreciate the plug on everything., I will be returning.
