ABW Album Review Board (Nas - NASIR)

Some people like the album and some people don’t like the album. There’s no right or wrong. It’s all opinions.
well ofc man

but we are talking as a consensus hiphop community, the overall vibe of the album

But do you think the opinions of others will sway someone to unlike something that they like? Bruh the entire world can hate Nasir, but if I fuck with it I fuck with it and nothing is going to sway my views. At the end of the day music is subjective.

then lets stop having threads that discuss the music altogether then

first and foremost...most of this shit is jokes...let me speak for myself

i had high expectations for this project, and to me, yes, it under delivered, but thats just THIS project. I hope whatever album he say is done is flames and im going to listen to that. My critique of this album isnt a slight at him as an emcee.

I’ve been trolling somewhat too but that’s only to combat the negativity. And funny enough when I heard that Kanye was going to produce the album I was skeptical because I felt he fell off. So maybe my views are based on lower expectations.

thats fair

It's about calling yall out on your stannery. Shit's like calling Nastradamus a 5 mic classic. Yall need help, immediately.

Unpopular opinion but I like NaStradamus a lot ..

See? I'm not sheep trying to fit in with a so called popular opinion

@Goldie, first line in the review

was nas' album the most anticipated of 2018 or one of the most anticipated?

The most anticipated album of 2018. I don't think it was close. Nas hadn't dropped an album in nearly a decade.

Who would u say had a more anticipated album?

ok..i can see that pov

i think i would've still said one of simply b/c nas' fanbase isnt increasing at this point so everyone who was anticipating this album has probably in all likelihood been a fan prior to this drop

Damn was last year right? I would think something like that or maybe fresh off the success of "Awaken my Love" someone like C.Gambino.

Dayum I couldn't get my review in time. 2.5/5 is way too harsh Goldie. I feel like y'all are clout chasing for uproar responses LOLOLOL.

The only real critique on the album is that it was too short. The album is lyrically laden and not really looking for a commercial audience which to this audience of people now is "crucial". The production is incredible, many of the songs don't follow traditional song format of having bridges and hooks and it's only 26 minutes constituting it as an EP.

Other than that the content is great and lyricism is top notch as expected. I just think NaS relied too heavily on lyricism because he's old school. NaS fans will like it but newer fans and this generation will treat it like they did Ab-Soul last album which followed a similar format.

Y'all gave Drake a higher review for not really introducing anything new, Scorpion was all production and nothing else.
no man lol

the critique was that it just wasnt that good

If pusha can have a flawless album with 7 songs and he's nowhere NEAR the lyrical emcee that Nas is, why is the standard for Nas different with the same number of songs?

Same producer different rappers... I thought it was a collaborative effort between rapper and producer?

Pusha T was formerly produced by the Neptunes while NAS by Salaam Remi... So you can see how Kanye tried to adjust to both niggas musically and from different regions in the States

Have you been listening to Nas for the past 15 years or so? Very sparse production on his songs to highlight his lyrics more .. That's how he likes it

whose fault is that?

How many producers have Jay worked with over the span of his career?

Lol Goldie being petty niggas liked this album a little too much so he had to bump down the score.

lol how tho? My rating was a 2, it got a 2.5.

I believe my rating for drake was a 4 (could've been a 3.5) and it got a 3.5. The difference is, for the drake album we had multiple reviews written. Nobody but me wrote a review for the Nas album. The public poll is only 1/3 of the rating. That's yall fault lol I waited over a week.

I thought that was your personal score. My bad.
