2018 we are in the Opioid Epidemic. 2 albums this year dealt with the topic in their own way.
JCole devoted alot of his album to addiction and drugs. But Cole aka "The Therapist" always comes off like hes talking down. He is a witness to these things but always has an outsiders pov.
Mac Millers album is the look inside the mind of a person with demons, failed relationships, and an addiction to escaping those troubles thru drugs.
Mac doesnt just show the negative side of doing drugs. He shows you both sides of the game. They give him peace when high and also sobering realizations when he comes back down. He gives us a voice that was missing on KOD.
The album also has a couple uplifting tracks. Smooth funk sprinkled in.
Mac went out on a CLASSIC. 5/5
