Redman: Dare Iz A Darkside.

Most everyone when they compare Red’s albums will say Muddy Waters is his most complete album, and it is but this album just resonated with me more. It was funky. It was dirty. I feel like his style changed from this album to muddy waters a bit I’m assuming to appease a more general audience but to me I enjoy this album way more. Songs like Basically and Noorotic especially. Favorite song on the album:

GZA: Liquid Swords

I remember when this album dropped I had $10 to my name. I could’ve got gas for my car or bought this album. But I had just watched the 4th Chamber/Shadowboxin’ video. So yeah ran out of gas, walked the rest of the way to blockbuster music and bought the album. Sat in my car and just zoned out till my cousin came with a gas can. I knew the album was special as soon as I heard: “It was the night before New Year's, and all through the fuckin' projects
Not a handgun was silent, not even a Tec…”

Common: One Day It’ll All Make Sense

This another one. Everyone usually gravitates to Be but I always loved One Day It’ll All Make Sense. As great as Ressurection was he really came into his own on this album for me. I saw how some of yall abw niggas was shitting on Com and I ain’t having it! Son got a top 10 discography! There’s so much this album offers. You get bars, ie. making a name for ourselves. Storytelling: the 3 stolen moments songs and deep introspective like retrospective for life or G.O.D. To me this my favorite Common album.

2.
Nas: Illmatic
What more can be said about this album? It’s Nas. The GOAT. Nuff said…

Little Brother: The Minstrel

But my favorite album of all time is The Minstrel Show. I was in college when this album dropped and it just resonated with me. Every song was like exactly what was going on with me at the time. I was having issues with my bm so all for you helped me through that time. Phonte’s verse…That whole Justus League era was a time for me I loved everything coming out of that camp. I wish they were still around.

Favorite song:

5. Phonte

I struggled putting Phonte at 5. Even though yeah there are possibly greater rappers but Phonte gave you that everyman perspective and grown-man bars about life, love, and struggle over beats from 9th, Khrysis etc. I felt that. I will forever say All For You is one of the greatest songs ever made.

Black Thought

Black Thought been giving you straight bars with no gimmicks since do you want more. But to me he really came into his own on illadelph halflife. I am glad he’s branching out and finally doing some solo projects now. Hopefully one day I can hear him over some alchemist beats or something.

2. Ghostface Killah

Ghost for me is the sharpest out the clan. Loved the purple tape. Loved tical and I loved dirts album but Ironman bruh. Wildflower, Daytona 500, assassination day. Come on bruh! Fucking Motherless Child! I know everyone that came up struggling felt that song. Nothing more to say about him.

Phonte def one of my faves. he might not have the longevity or popularity of other people's top 5 artists but he def got the skills and the bars to rap with ANYONE

respect
And we know Drake borrowed from Phonte too. Drake is where Phonte should be for me.
