I hate when shows or movies use kids as plot tools purposely slow down the progression of the plot cause they want to spam run time

Like, the main female character is about to learn something significant to the story that could help her along. But she brought her kid and the person giving exposition is scaring the kid.

So the kid is like, mama let’s just go, screaming that the whole time the person is talking. And you be thinking, why the fuck is this kid even here? Who brings their kid to a situation like this?
