I had a friend when i was young and living in the projects. His mom was struggling..looking back she did a good job hiding it. She fed him ketchup and rice so much that it became his favorite meal. Even when they started to do better.

Ketchup and rice being your favorite meal by default is struggling.
 
Growing up is realizing Deloris Tucker was not only a hero for black women, she was also right. Our generation and so many generations were so misguided and manipulated. We turned our back on the elders that made things happen, taught to see them as the villains and to see the ones controlled by the state as hero’s. And those men and women sold us out for lives of luxury. That shit is happening right now and to this day, and it makes me sad that I believe we’ll never as a majority get back on track.

How much of a role does you think capitalism play and what other factors play a part?


IMO It’s huge disconnect from my generation to the last and a even bigger one with this younger generation. Even on a basic respect level with each other, older and younger. And that’s not even talking about the false idols that given to us by the state as you stated.

y’all ever meet someone that was so professional that it made you feel unprofessional?

I had to go one of the prisons I work at, so when i get there the control officer ask me where im going and I tell her. So she ask me if I’m walking there or if I want a golf cart to take me. Im thinking where I gotta go ain’t to far so I tell her I’ll walk.

She’s like, you sure? It’s a mile long walk from the entrance of the yard. So then I tell her I’ll wait for the cart. So I get to where I gotta go, work and I’m finished coming back to the front of that building and the officer there ask me if I was done.

I told her yea and she like good, cause I’m bout to leave I was bout to just lock you in here cause all the inmates left for chow. So I asked her if she using the cart or walking, if she walking I’ll walk with her. She like, nah I’m using the cart. So I say bet. She escort me outside and stayed inside and locked me out on the yard.

Lol..and im like oh, she was like nah nigga you walking. So im walking back to central command through the yard and one of the inmates that hung back crossing my patch from behind at a angle. We meet on the side walk and he’s like “afternoon good brother” deep voice, posture like he ex military, super professional brother.

Made me think, damn, what he did to be here. So we walking and talking as we heading back to central command. He asking me bout shit cause he’s the inmate worker who help with electrical work. As we walking.

Here come shorty wit the cart, we almost got a quarter left to go, so it’s pointless to jump on. But she asking me if I wanna ride. And I’m like nah I’ll just keep walking. She look at him, and then look at me and ask. “You sure”..lol, which is crazy cause dude seem like a fucking business executive.

Made me think about, shit don’t make sense, I wonder what he did to be here or what he be doing that make her act like that.

I be having weird days.

I might have 4 pairs of wireless earbuds from losing them and buying more and then finding some again months later

Lol I’m just gonna keep one in the car just in case on standby
