The president of our company sent out this written announcement for Black History Month. I ain't gonna lie, it came off real sincere and heartfelt. He basically went into how he came into the military at the same time as a black man and how that black man had to go through like 10 times as much shit and everybody knew it. He expressed regret in not being able to do anything and honestly not even trying help. He said the black dude thrived and manage to achieve greatness despite everything he went through, and that the focus of Black History Month shouldn't just be on all the bad things black people have had to go through in this country but maybe more on the fact that despite those bad things black people have somehow managed to survive, overcome, and do amazing things.
Anyway, I was a little surprised to see it in my email inbox this morning. We've never had a president write anything like that for any occasion. It seems like this dude really cares about speaking to the various people working for the company. Funny shit is I've been on the elevator with the several times and chopped it up with him like anyone else at the company not knowing he was the president. I'm always skeptical of older white dudes because I can't help but wonder what they were doing back in those segregation days. He seems like a good dude, but I still wouldn't be surprised if he had been on some bullshit back then.
