Both fanbases are pretty rabid and act like those dudes are the pinnacle of rap when neither was particularly successful or impactful. I'm not saying that a rapper has to be popular for you to be a fan, but I've tried listening to both and don't get the over the top loyalty that some have for them.

Because of what they are, what they've done, and what they're capable of doing. Take away all the shit that happens outside the booth. Take away the industry politics and the social media antics and you have two emcees that SHOULD have been far more than what they became.

It's partly their fault, and partly the genre and its fickle nature. We're fans of lyricism. And those two have more of it than probably 95% of the rappers to ever pick up a mic.
