The brewery I work at specializes in German ale's.... Some are pale ales...
Most people think all pale ales are ipa's .....ipa's are just one kind... But there are tons of pale ale styles. Pale ales are more hoppy which can make them tangy or bitter depending the brand.
The absolute best of this is prolly dog fish head 90 minute ipa.
The 60 is very good,.... The 120 is like angel breast milk... But the 90 is perfect.
The best pale at my job is Resurrection....I might drink these tonight... They just kinda heavy...
I normally drink birdhouse... Very hoppy, but good and light.....
But beers come in so many kinddb it's crazy...I have a shirt that literally has a periodic table of beers...
You gotta find what you like....
And the only respectable cider is woodchuck

Heineken and Guiness are my go-to's. Especially if you're at a restaurant that only has your typical beer brands. I live in Michigan tho so we've got tons of craft brews, Founder and New Holland are probably the bigger 2.
