Contract wise, $40M guaranteed is a ton of money in the NFL. Steelers are known to cut ties with players when they hit 30, so this gives them an excuse now especially considering they are in win now mode and QB will be an issue moving forward after this season.

Discipline wise, The Steelers are in a playoff fight and can't afford to lose any games. Just the optics alone are crazy bcuz they got rid off a WR who in my opinion is more talented bcuz they didn't like his on field conduct.
