Had they known they’d get Harper, they don’t trade for Fox, can’t fault them for being proactive. They have a generational player they’re making sure to put things around him in order to help him succeed.

Its ok to pivot when introduced to new circumstances and information but Im sure this deal with Klutch/Fox was agreed upon before the trade was done so it would be a bad look to renege

Same thing with Dallas and Cooper Flagg though

Trying to compete with this AD/Kyrie era of the team and not restructuring the timeline around Flagg is massive misstep and lack of foresight

Between 2027-2030 Dallas doesnt control its first round draft pick......how do you plan on getting younger and adding talent when Flagg is entering his prime

More talent better odds of winning.

Once Harper shows he can handle the responsibility of being the primary perimeter playmaker then they’ll pivot. Until then they are doing the right thing. More talent>>>

Its more about Castle than Fox for me

I don't know a single situation where having 3 overlapping players with some sort of cache works out

We just saw Fox cry and run a superior player in Haliburton out of Sacramento because he didn't want to share responsibilities lol

Spurs are fine but the end result is the same whether they pivot now or wait......just delaying the inevitable

Trade either Fox or Castle before they see how it plays out?

Players often aren't in tune with their front office and someone like wemby is most likely saying he wants to win now or else. He's not thinking about having to wait for players younger than him games to come along. Spurs really don't have a choice. 🤷🏿‍♂️

I agree and thats what Ive been saying this whole time....

Regardless of what I would do......I understand why the Spurs are doing what they're doing

1. If a "star" player actually want to come to a small market team like San Antonio it would be a bad look to turn around and immediately trade him

2. You have a generational talent in Wemby that you have to show real progress and that you're committed to winning since you're literally on the clock with him from the moment you draft him.....in a different circumstance they could afford to slow play it a little longer

3. Spurs have time to recalibrate and assess the situation....I just stated I would do if I was them and running the team and that would be to move on from Fox or Castle, preferably Castle before the value tanks.

They need time to evaluate what they have and how it works. Can't fault them for that even if they lose value on castle. He can just as likely gain value. It's not as pressing as you're making it seem at the moment. Everything doesn't fall apart of they don't trade castle immediately. We also don't know what the market for castle or Harper is currently might not be much there.

You talking to a guy who wanted to see Lamelo and Brandon miller play for multiple years before even thinking of moving Lamelo

But even in that scenario it's more sensible because Lamelo and B. Miller plsy different positions and you can see how they could possibly compliment each other....not saying its going to work but tge theory of it you can see

Fox, Harper and Castle are 2 on ball guys and one guy who thinks hes a point guard and none of them can shoot
