Magic finally do something but 5 first round picks???

😮
Facts. I wouldn't give up 5 picks for Giannis rn. But I get it the east is wide open and this puts them at or near the top of the pack next season.

People gon balk at the price (justified) but Orlando for the most part gon have to overpay to get those type of players in trades.

Not a destination franchise.

Its not a destination franchise but I don't think it's somewhere players don't want to be. Same as the Rockets. No state tax, decent weather. If you build right mfs will come.

To Miami probably. Ain’t shit to do in Orlando lol.

Only players moving there willingly are married with kids.

Yo I like Bane, but sheesh. Not that much. That's crazy.

Selfishly I'm happy though.

This makes the Mikail trade not look that bad.

Bane > Mikail. Not saying he isn't. But he ain't that much better than Mikail was at BK.

Wtf is Orlando doing!?

Massive overpay by Orlando

They may not be as good but I'm sure they could've got someone like Collin Sexton or Malik Monk for way cheaper

Also this moves signals to me the Grizz are about to blow it up

I get the initial reaction but the current roster as constructed was not moving the needle.

Might as well swing for the fence and see what happens. The East is still going to be wide open and I think someone else will represent them in the finals next year

Nobody has advocated for the Magic to something and make a big swing more than me

This is a massive overpay

I'm not disagreeing with you but if they are near the top, that means those picks will most likely be at the bottom of the draft

What are the chances any of those picks turn out to be good to great players?

The surprising aspect about this whole thing is the massive return Memphis got for Bane. Think back to what the Dallas Mavericks got for Luka Doncic, just one future first-round pick from the Lakers, for a guy who finished in the top three of MVP voting, earned five first-team All-NBA mentions and is a five-time all-star, too. Bane has none of those accolades to his name, and yet he just fetched the return of what an MVP-caliber player should be getting on the trade market.

If anything, this sets the tone for what should be a very active trade market this summer. If trading Bane gets you four unprotected first-round picks, think of what someone like Austin Reaves or Derrick White, two similarly important role players, could get the Lakers or Celtics if they do indeed part ways with those guys.

NBA teams are expected to examine Memphis Grizzlies stars Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. following the surprising trade of Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic on Sunday, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

"The next question is what about Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.? And I don't know the answer to this. This is something that we're just starting to trying to figure out with this trade," Windhorst reported on SportsCenter. "The whole league is now going to investigate this. We haven't heard from the Grizzlies yet and if I was at the Grizzlies' press conference this is the No. 1 question I would be asking. I wouldn't be asking about Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, I wouldn't be asking about Cole Anthony, I wouldn't be asking about those four first-round picks. I'd be asking, 'Do you intend to extend Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., both of whom are extension-eligible this summer?' Is that what you're doing now or are you pivoting the franchise?' So, to me, that's the big story emanating out of this trade."
