Damn, this might mean that he's gonna bring back Chauncey.

I like Jokic, but I feel like he's the perfect example of people being blinded by numbers.

  1. This is an inflated stats era. We're seeing that across the board, not just with Jokic.
  2. Jokic is playing in a system that is tailored to putting the ball in his hands and letting him do everything. That's going to give you crazy stats.
  3. Jokic really only plays one side of the ball.
  4. He benefits from rarely having to play against another good center.
If Denver was the #1 or #2 team in the league, maybe you could ignore those three points. However, all these big numbers he's putting up don't lead to winning, so is he really the MVP? Maybe he is the best player in the league, that doesn't automatically mean he's bringing the best value to the team.

One thing that people don't really talk about much with MJ is that early in his career he was putting up better numbers than when he was winning t he championship. There was a stretch where he played PG and was putting up triple double type numbers just like players nowadays. You don't really win championships like that though. MJ realized that an took a step back for the benefit of the team, and they won 6 championships. These people praising Jokic don't get that. The numbers are impressive, but they won't lead to another championship for Denver.
