He’s a nice player even though I give him shit and have advocated for trading him lol.

The question obviously is gonna be if he has another gear in the playoffs. I’m excited to see it. He’s either gonna solidify what I already think or change my mind.

It looks good but it's all about he performs in the playoffs...can he be consistent and/or elevate to another level?

Things can change very fast one or way the either depending what he does in the postseason

We're absolutely going to need so he's going to have all the opportunity to so we'll see how handles the bright lights and seeing the same defense for 2 weeks

Wizards have done pretty well handling their rebuild....probably regret the Deni move at this point but they did a really good job picking a direction/identity

Nail this upcoming draft and next and they're set

If I I was a Wizards fan I would be very excited right now
Hot take

Consolidate carrington, Middleton and George for 1 player and keep Smart

This team will still have

Kispert
Smart
Bey

In addition to the player you consolidated those players for

That makes sense..if they get Copper you can absolutely tap the gas a little bit and work on rounding out the roster more and get some more useful players who compliment the core

I wonder why they didn't do anything with Brogdons expiring contract

Idk how I feel about Brian Keefe

Might have to get Taylor Jenkins in there

And idk maybe they really wanted brogdon’s leadership and I guess it wasn’t imperative to move him for a player

It kinda doesn’t matter on their end I can see his mentorship being more valuable because worse case scenario is his money just comes off the books

It all started when he low key scrapped his entire staff over the summer, it flew under the radar but I really thought that was interesting

I wouldn't have been surprised if he got let go after the playoffs but right before is truly shocking

I'm still not sure why he was so disliked....yeah he would make some head scratching decisions with rotations sometimes but that was the only thing that really stood out and it seemed liked considering the circumstances he was doing a good job

I guess we'll learn more about this situation as things start to come out though...The Grizzlies have traditionally been a pretty tight knit organization and try to keep things behind closed doors but with Ja shit that happened and now with Taylor Jenkins they're starting to look a little more like a dysfunctional franchise

At this point I guess they're just going to see what happens from here in the playoffs and evaluate but unless something drastically changed my guess is they go a soft rest this summer and trade Ja Morant

Fatboys podcast shed a little more light on the situation

It really did start with the front office forcing him to scrap his staff in the offseason and it basically became a power struggle between assistant coaches about the type of offense they were running

They brought in two assistants and paid them both 7 figures...Noah LaRoche from Paris and Tumoas Lisalol from Finland

Noah LaRoche was doing a lot of player and ball movement like the Warriors and how the Spurs used to play

Grizzlies were dead last in ball screens and weren't running pick and roll

Ja Morant nd AND Desmond Bane werent happy with this offense

Taylor Jenkins lost the locker room(Ja started to tune him out)

Grizzlies decided to fire Jenkins and LaRoche and keep the guy who runs more stuff that Ja likes and try to reassure him that they are committed to him and building around him

I'm indifferent on Keefe at this point too but if they could swap him out for Jenkins they should absolutely do that

Their books are fairly clean after this season besides Poole being owed 65 mil over the following two years

Much better article about the grizzlies

I was listening to NBA radio on Saturday and one of the shows had Fred Katz on there and he stated pretty much what you did, but painted it that Jenkins was a dead man walking as early as the off-season because they forced him to take most of those assistants on his staff.

they had his replacement (the guy who has the job now) working under him waiting in the wings. Dirty game.

They said the exact same thing....had his legs cut from under him

The players knew it was over for him and ultimately he lost the locker room because of it too
