Giddey at 22 is a finished product

You know what? I'm gonna admit that I don't watch them enough, or closely enough, to be in a position to evaluate his defensive contribution.

His offense is trash though.

And there's no telling how much better Giddy might get, both offensively and defensively.
Well this would have to assume his offense was ever good to begin with

His calling card has always been defense which he's still pretty good at this point in his career

I tried to tell everyone that Giddey is a good young player who can average 18/8/8 and they scoffed at it just because his lack of defense and shooting at 21 didn’t really mesh well with how OKC is built now

What he’s doing in Chicago isn’t all that surprising really after watching his first few years in the season but you know…
They or was it just 5th?

Would you pay Giddey max money or close to it if you're Chicago?

Nah no need

I want the bulls to trade for lamelo remember?

Also Giddey aside, Lonzo, Terry, Ayo, Coby, and Matas are there

Turn Giddey’s play into some assets from the nets or something

Well trading Caruso for Giddey when you had multiple draft picks on the table and then letting him leave for nothing would be a massive L

You do know he's a restricted free agent this summer right? Chicago didn't extend him when they had chance which I semi-applaud them for waiting but if he finishes the season strong and a team with cap space say...Brooklyn decideds sign him to a max offer sheet.....you wouldn't match it? You wou just let him walk?

ahh didn’t know he was restricted and I can’t think right now but can’t the Bulls just extend a qualifying offer that makes him unrestricted next season?

Or is it too late for that?

Yeah they can still extend the qualifying offer and he'll hit unrestricted free agency last year

The Bulls are traumatized by the Patrick Williams situation so I'd imagine they let the market set his value....but either way I'd be shocked if they didn't match an expensive offer sheet from another team

Bulls should've taken the picks instead of Giddey

It’s not a terrible position imo

Worst case scenario you have Giddey on your team putting up numbers until he’s 26 or 27

You can push it to next year and sign him when the cap should go up I think and in the meantime get what you can for Ayo and someone else and be prepared to keep Giddey

You're assuming he's going to want to comeback to Chicago if they fuck with his money for another season....and on top of that more teams will have money in the 2025/2026 offseason

So now you're risk at risk of grossly overpaying Patrick Williams and Giddey while still being a treadmill team...piling up bad contracts is a sure way to do that

Bulls are in a terrible position because they have absolutely no direction or plan to be competitive and they keep overpaying people
