When you think about players I like they usually fall under these two types

Strong do it all forwards who can stretch the floor

Defensive minded athletic forwards who can fill a box score outside of scoring

It’s why I like guys like

Watson
Kirilenko (throwback)

It’s why Deni is my favorite player on the blazers for example

He’s a defensive forward but can play point forward

I appreciate 14 point, 7 reb, 4 assist, 2 steals and a block more than I do someone scoring 35 points

2 way capability with size and scoring Kawhi, KD, OG, Jimmy, Bron

Scoring guard maestros with footwork like Chef, Brunson, Kyrie, Ect

And scoring playmakers like Bdiddy, Cp3, Harden, Dwill

Ok so boom…

1. Time to move on from Trae (you don’t need to have so much of your flexibility and $ tied into a short defenseless inefficient guard. Not with Dyson, JJ and Risacher as the budding young core of the future

But it’s not DIRE they move Trae as he’s helpful for them now while not being a good team because he sets guys up but he should be gone in the summer

2. Bogdan is having a terrible season only playing 7 games I think so far and he’s inefficient as well. Somehow he’s a worse Terry Rozier right now because he’s even older than him and hawks need to prioritize a proper backup or start to use bufkin more and bogdan still on contract for 1 more season at minimum

3. Clint capela like come on now…but he’s expiring and that’s the perfect reason to move him

4. Deandre Hunter makes way too much money to be as pedestrian as he is. The funny thing is he’s having the best season of his career which even you think about it, it’s perfect for a trade. I’m just not a fan he’s so aggressively average to me


Team is kinda stuck between being too good to be a bottom feeder but not good enough to win a first round series regardless of opponent

If this team is trying to compete seriously I can’t tell. So lean into getting more lean and getting younger assets

The core is trash. They are offensively challenged and rely on Trae drawing defensive attention.

The Hawks are ran as a profit-generating family business. They aren't interested in winning but keeping butts in the seats.

They won't trade Trae because Trae is the only reason why anybody comes to the games. Local celebrities sit courtside and watch Trae play, when Trae wasn't there, shit was dead. Trae is nursing an Achilles injury and probably shouldn't be playing at all but the Hawks don't believe in tanking, so he's out there.

The Hawks leadership don't want to be good.

To be good in the NBA means you have to shell out money to keep a team together around a top 5 player. The owners are cheap. Trae keeps people coming to games. The young guys don't get their confidence destroyed because Trae is doubled as soon as he crosses half court. The young guys get wide open shots and open lanes to the rim. The top brass can sell the fans on the new Hawks and fans can pretend the team is on the rise with young talent.

If the Hawks cared about winning championships, they would've traded Clint, John Collins and DeAndre Hunter for a star after the ECF run.

Hawks are a doomed franchise. GMs can't make moves there because the imperative is keep attendance high and don't trade away talent on decent deals.
