GUILTY BY AFFILIATION
I get it and it's an unpopular opinion of mine. But hear me out. Unless you're the Raiders, Jets, Giants, Chargers or Rams 50% the time teams are referenced by the city they play in. Such as Philly vs Washington or Dallas vs Pittsburgh.
People don't really go around saying Crimson Tide and Fighting Irish. They say Alabama and Notre Dame.
So naming the team Washington would be a smooth and easy transition as the team is already referred to that anyway.
Plus the one name thing has a bit of prestige behind it like Beyonce and Prince. Lol
