It could be just talk and trying to drive up the value of some of their players but from what I've been reading Portland thinks they can be what Houston is right now next season.....Basically "we don't have to go sign Fred Van Vleet and Dillon Brooks if we already have them(Brogdon and Grant)" is the thought process

Would be a bad decision for several reasons but I hope this is the path they take
