To be fair her initial statement on the incident was that she did not consent and even said so on her IG live whilst in the locker room immediately afterwards when the whole team were celebrating.
When shit started getting a lil traction, she then allegedly tried to downplay the incident as this quote initially reported to be made by her was released:
The released text said: "(The kiss) was a totally spontaneous mutual gesture due to the immense joy of winning a World Cup. The president and I have a great relationship, his behaviour towards all of us has been outstanding and it was a natural gesture of affection and gratitude".
"We can't think any more about a gesture of friendship and gratitude, we won a World Cup and we're not going to deviate from what's important,"
It has since been reported that she never said this or agreed to this being released, and in fact it was the Spanish FA comms dept who released it without consulting her.
Following that, the heat really turned up and everything went viral, protests started happening and that's when the player definitely released the following statement via futpro who are the union representing Spanish femal footballers
It said: “My union, FUTPRO, in coordination with my agency, TMJ, are taking care of defending my interests and being the interlocutors on this matter.”
there was another statement released on her behalf i recall but essentially it was worded in such a way that it seemed highly generic relating to female rights etc to paraphrase.
Then the Spanish FA came out swinging talking about a conversation rubiales alleged took place with hermoso as she picked him up from ground where he asked for a "peck" and she gladly obliged.
That's when a vehement denial statement was put out via Futpro where Hermoso denied such events or conversation ever occurred and it was not consensual from day dot.
