Because you can only go so far with Murray as your best player, Spurs werent going to get an elite free agent and they were never going to get a top 3 pick unless they completely bottomed out

Trae is a very good facilitator they just needed someone to take pressure off of Trae, which will allow him to play off ball more and catch and shoot. This will be a seamless fit.
