Common misconception. Police don’t need her as a witness, even if she retracts all statements. If they have enough evidence, they can still press charges.

Also said a key witness withdrew their statement as long with new evidence.. which means the realistic chances of conviction was low ..... This isn't new in these cases and is why rape convictions are low and people think it's pointless to report
