Respectfully(cause you my dude)-But Marcus Smart was never the glue that kept that team together. Marcus Smart problem was he thought he was better than he really was. He thought or thinks he is a Big 3 with Jaylen and Tatum (any big 3 would be Jaylen, Tatum with the "time lord). Smart be taken ill advised shots that he can't or wasn't making adding to the incoherence that was the Cs during and post Kryie era, pre and post "bubble-era" and up until mid-way through this year. If Smart had played within himself there would of never been an issue. I mean plenty of teams could of picked him up in free agency and not many bit.

you can't be the glue that keeps a team together when they are losing when you are on the floor and off the floor. When you are throwing chairs and getting tossed out of games..(Tatum and Brown werent listening to that dude especially when he was playing as bad as they were). I don't doubt that they want him there and have a bond with him, but that team in every aspect to it belongs to Tatum and Brown and they emotionally follow what they do, Smart is just the "secretary" for lack of a better term. lol

I was told it was it was the easiest way for the Pelicans to make the playoffs and they still fumbled.

But on a serious note, my understanding has always been that with a shortened season, there was no way to determine who would've made the playoffs especially when you had teams that were making a late season push as well as teams that were struggling and you had to assume that if there wasn't a stoppage, then who knows how things would've turned out.

But most importantly, the NBA needed to do something to make the regular season matter. I still think they can improve on this by doing something similar to soccer and having different league cups or some shit. Even if it's considered consolation trophies or something, everyone needs a carrot at the end of the stick. Take the teams that didn't make the playoffs and do an NBA version of the NIT.
