2021/22 NBA Season Thread

A real coach figures shit out. Amare and Marks can passive aggressively blame Ky all they want but it still doesn’t change the fact Nash is a shit coach

You can say that for college and below, but it doesn't really work in the NBA. When the stars can basically have their coaches fired, the coaches have their hands tied a bit. Nash came into this situation with 2 of his stars basically saying they didn't need them and had the intention of coaching themselves.

Amar’e Stoudemire is leaving his post with the Nets and said the franchise needs to take a harder stance with star guard Kyrie Irving.

Stoudemire worked under head coach Steve Nash as a player development assistant this season.

Stoudemire made his comments on ESPN’s morning talk shows. He appeared on both the Get Up show with Mike Greenberg and the First Take show with Stephen A. Smith and Jay Williams (hat tip to NetsDaily.com).

Irving’s refusal to get vaccinated played a large part in the Nets’ demise, according to Stoudemire.

“Yeah, I think it hurt us. It definitely hurt us because we didn’t have consistency enough with Kyrie to build chemistry with the group, with the team,” he said. “He’s playing only away games depending which city it is … can’t play in New York … therefore we had different lineups, different matchups depending on the game schedule. So it made it difficult for us coaches to figure out who’s going to play in spite of Kyrie.”

Stoudemire, a former All-Star center, said Irving has to make a greater commitment to the franchise in order to solidify his superstar status. Irving was left off the NBA’s 75th anniversary Top 75 squad.

“I feel Kyrie has to make a commitment himself to the game of basketball. on how committed he is to being a great player because I feel like Kyrie should have been on the Top 75 list,” Stoudemire said. “But at the same time, you have to now take that as motivation going into next season and proving, prove to yourself that you are a top player and do it consistently throughout the season. “

Irving is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent this summer. Stoudemire believes that GM Sean Marks needs to get assurances about Irving’s commitment before re-signing the enigmatic guard. Marks indicated that his conversations with Irving this summer will include whether Irving is motivated to playing regularly going forward.

“You can say you’re available and ready to play next season, but are you actually going to do that or are you going to renege on that and not play and if that’s the case you’d have this situation where he says he’s going to be available but he doesn’t, now what do we do? So now you have to negotiate that into the contract, in the writing, try to figure out a way to have the writing set in the contract to where if he doesn’t play these things happen,” Stoudemire said.

Eh... in the end kyrie was right. It was a bullshit mandate. It's unfortunate shit went down the way it did but no one should have to inject themselves with anything to prove their commitment to a team/job. He had a choice just like everyone else on... 🌎... (his easier to stand on than most) he made his. Be mad at the politicians who made the bullshit mandates and were hard stanced on them until it was time for the Yankees season to start then all of a sudden that shit didn't matter.

Man I enjoy a good redemption story.

Im here for Harden looking at how bad he was this season, and using the offseason to get in good shape and start taking care of his body, and be back to killing the league next season.

I doubt he does any of that though

Whew... I was getting ready to light yo ass up until I got to the last sentence. Started reading your post and was like "this man @AZTG really want me to turn this thread upside down this morning" 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Lmaooooo.

Man im just saying I like a redemption story, im not saying im crazy.

Harden might come into the season in decent shape if they dont extend him and its a contract year.

But its all down hill fast after that

They’re not trading Embiid. What makes you think they are?
When the trade demand comes

Sixers have put together a really decent team around Embiid only once since he was drafted

28 years old is around the time when players go “alright man I might not be able to win here”

Also with how injury prone Embiid is I think his prime might be until he’s 31

Idk if I wanna stay on a team that constantly makes decisions that are detrimental and I can’t get to a conf finals but have to watch the Celtics/Bucks/Heat do it constantly

how long until the 2nd round exits wear you down?

Unfortunately people choose ignorance and entertainment before viewing things from a holistic stand point. Politicians got away with murder here as they always do....before and after the mandate.

What team you guys think Embiid gets traded to?
Wherever Jimmy is. Also I'd secretly want them to win a chip just to make sports radio ridiculously hilarious on my drive to work and get everyone who turned they backs in a tizzy. "WHY'D WE GET RID OF EMBIID? WHY COULDN'T HE DO THAT HERE?"
